GAM – Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art

Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art Turin

Organismi is an exhibition of art, architecture, design, photography and food that connects Art Nouveau with contemporaneity.

With an exhibition designed specifically by MCA, the exhibition is a new vision of the relationships organized by the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and the biocentric visions of today.

The first moment dedicated to Art Nouveau has as its protagonist the visionary Émile Gallè, on display of refined vases and furniture, as well as the drawings by architect Liberty Raimondo d’Aronco and scientific figures by Santiago Ramon y Cajal, discoverer of the neuron. Pierre Huyghe who for some years has created real ecosystems as works of contemporary art, as well as the botanist Patrick Blanc, inventor of “vegetal walls”, and architect Mario Cucinella, whose vision of an ecological architecture is sustainable on the principle that each building must empathize with the climate and culture The exhibition ends with the documents relating to the history of the Slow Food movement. (GAM, Turin – from 3 May to 6 November 2016)
