United for Progress

The temporary installation “United for Progress” designed by Mario Cucinella Architects

The pure, simple and circular shape of the installation, set inside the BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi (Trees Library Park) in Milan, relates to the geometrical green context of the park.

The temporary installation “United for Progress” designed by Mario Cucinella Architects, hosted the world launch of Audi Q4 e-tron, during the Interni Designer’s Week in Milan.

The identity of the project is symbolically represented by the infinity that can be seen proceeding around the structure. The infinity represents the idea of a way of being, where places, people and skills are at the centre of a path that aims to meet challenges and overcome limits.

Consisting of a modular metal sub-structure entirely clad with wooden panels, a material symbolising the sustainable paradigms of the city of the future, the central arena, made up of 12 steps (6 on each side), offers visitors an informal gathering space (in compliance with SARSCoV-2 prevention and control measures), as well as new perspectives of the park, both during the day and at night, thanks to an integrated full-LED lighting system.

The project has been realised following the principles of Design for Disassembly: it will be possible to separate and recover all the materials once the exhibition is over. The installation was conceived as an extension of the public space of the park, a place for exchange and knowledge, like an urban laboratory where exploring a new-found relationship between man and nature, to connect through common values and imagine a sustainable future together.
