Rimed

Center for biotechnology and biomedical research

MCA took part in the competition for the design of the Center for Biotechnology and Biomedical Research for the Foundation Ri.MED. The main objective of the intervention is to create a complex that meets the principles of environmental sustainability. Recognizing the value of the area’s landscape and its morphology led to informed choices relating to the formal context and the surrounding buildings. The buildings, partly sunken into the ground, gradually emerge like rocky outcrops rising toward the sea. Architecture and technology are integrated harmoniously in the buildings themselves, rendering them recognizable as places advanced research and high quality.
