Peace with NO borders, Madrid 15 – 17 September

From September 15 to 17, 2019, in Madrid, women and men of different religions and cultures, from about 60 countries around the world will meet to build a “Peace with NO borders”. Thousands of people will say “no” to a world that is still going through too many wars and to societies that are experiencing a growing climate of violence and racism.

For three days, leaders of Christians, Jews, Muslims and Asian religions will take part, together with representatives of the institutions and the world of culture, in about thirty round tables. Many topics will be the focus of attention, not only the inter-religious dialogue and conflict prevention but also the need for disarmament, the environmental emergency, the future of Europe, the phenomenon of migration, the issues of development and social justice.

Numerous institutional, religious and cultural personalities from all continents are expected to participate, including the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Carlos Osoro Sierra, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, the American economist Jeffrey Sachs, the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadera, the Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, Israel Meir Lau, the Rector of the University of Al-Azhar, Mohammad Al-Mahrasawi, the founder of the Community of Sant’Egidio, Andrea Riccardi and many others.

The architect Mario Cucinella, for the third consecutive year, will participate in the international meeting organized by Community of Sant’Egidio in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Madrid, Monday, September 16 at 5:30 pm. at Círculo de Bellas Artes [Sala Maria Zambrano] Marqués de Casa Riera, 2.

The aim of “Peace with NO borders” is to give concrete answers of peace and dialogue to the climate of permanent conflict to which our societies are accustomed, from the violence of verbal language to the resurgence of phenomena of racism and xenophobia.
