The studio MC A – Mario Cucinella Architects has been created a “travelling” box that will leave for the first time from Italy to Buenos Aires. Architect Mario Cucinella will be the guest of “La Biennale Internazionale di Architettura” which will take place from 15 to 20 October 2019 at the Usina del Arte.

The “itinerant” box, which will be transformed into a 10×3 metre installation, will contain some projects by the Bologna-based studio with the aim of having a positive impact on society and the environment.

“The box is the result of an extraordinary collaboration between the designers, modellers and architects of the studio. It wants to be like a “message in a bottle”, able to travel across the continents to launch a debate on “sustainable architecture”. says architect Cucinella – If used improperly, the word sustainability quickly loses its meaning. Imagining sustainable buildings means entering into a deep dialogue with the climate and the place, working a lot on form and materials that increasingly participate in achieving the result, as they are able to do an invisible job within a new circular economy. Buenos Aires will be the first stage of what I would like to become a journey full of debates and dialogues.

The way in which MC A’s work will be exhibited will be a transposition of the work and the design method of the studio, which is part of its philosophy, and which ranges from the most holistic part of the research, to the craftsmanship of the study models and sketches, to the most advanced technologies of parametric modeling and BIM (Building Information Modeling), 3D printing and environmental simulations.

Once opened, the box will be turned into a “card sculpture”, a true 360° exhibition object. The viewer will discover a design philosophy that, starting from places, from complicity with the environment, climate and nature, seeks to respond to the environmental challenges of the present and the needs of future generations, through empathic architectures, which make innovation the result of a creative mixture between present, past and a green future inspired by plants.

80 recycled printed wood cards will build a modular installation integrated with 3d printed models and holographic projections. An immersive digital video tour of the Bologna-based studio will allow visitors to explore the space by listening the design processes of MC A through the stories of architects, engineers, designers and professionals of the studio.

In an immersive and connective space with the aim of connecting the public with architecture, the Biennale offers (free) expositions, conferences and exhibitions by professionals from all over the world, offering international works, new approaches and renewed ideological contributions.
