La bellezza e l’ideale

In the entrance corridor of the Pinacoteca, we designed the layout to host the exhibition “La bellezza e l’ideale” with plaster busts by Canova and the Pinacoteca Viaggiante.

The sequence of niches and surfaces creates a new sense of space. The architectural intervention interacts with the existing monumentality, introducing a system of contemporary elements that welcome Canova’s busts with a sober and calibrated language. The rigorous and silent design of the volumes allows the works to be the true protagonists.

Nel corridoio d’ingresso della Pinacoteca, abbiamo progettato l’allestimento per ospitare la mostra “La bellezza e l’ideale” con i busti in gesso di Canova e la Pinacoteca Viaggiante.

La sequenza di nicchie e superfici genera una nuova misura dello spazio. L’intervento architettonico dialoga con la monumentalità esistente, introducendo un sistema di elementi contemporanei che accolgono i busti di Canova con un linguaggio sobrio e calibrato. Il disegno dei volumi, rigoroso e silenzioso, lascia che le opere siano le vere protagoniste.

Per ospitare i gessi canoviani è stata progettata una lunga mensola continua, capace di accogliere la collezione temporanea ma anche di avere una seconda vita. La struttura, pensata per essere riutilizzabile, può trasformarsi in un supporto per future esposizioni, adattandosi a nuovi racconti e all’evoluzione del museo. Una logica di reversibilità e sostenibilità guida l’intervento, in linea con la filosofia progettuale dello studio.

L’allestimento accompagna il visitatore lungo una narrazione visiva: una teoria di volti che incarnano l’idea di bellezza ideale nel linguaggio neoclassico. L’architettura si fa cornice discreta e misurata, regolando la luce e la percezione. Il colore neutro delle superfici e il tono caldo dei basamenti in legno creano un equilibrio raffinato tra materia, luce e tempo.

L’intervento illumina le opere con un sistema di luci esistenti, reinterpretato e potenziato. La luce diventa strumento di lettura, sottolineando i volumi e restituendo ai gessi la loro purezza originaria. L’uso di vetro antiriflesso elimina ogni interferenza visiva, restituendo al visitatore un’esperienza diretta, quasi intima, con la scultura.

Ogni dettaglio è pensato per valorizzare la materia delle opere: il basamento in legno naturale introduce un calore domestico, mentre la finitura scura delle mensole restituisce profondità e neutralità visiva. L’insieme costruisce un contrappunto visivo alla sequenza dei busti, bilanciando pesi e proporzioni nello spazio.
